Fly into Lisbon. Alfama and Belém hit the classic checklist. Base mid-grade near Baixa or Graça, not tourist-trap waterfront only. One Évora day trip into the Alentejo — Roman temple, whitewashed walls, no Paris burn rate.

1. Day 1

   Land & Graça base

2. Day 2

   Alfama on foot

   Walk down into Alfama before 10am — miradouros, Sé cathedral, narrow lanes. Pasteis de nata when you hit a bakery, not the longest queue. Tram 28 only if lines aren’t absurd; walking often beats waiting. Lunch with a view, back uphill to Graça for a quiet evening.

3. Day 3

   Belém day

   Base: Lisbon — GraçaTraditional checklist

   Tram or Uber to Belém. Jerónimos Monastery (book slot), Torre de Belém from outside if lines suck, Monument to the Discoveries. One pastéis de Belém stop — share a box. Afternoon: MAAT riverside walk or rest at the hotel. Evening in Graça.

4. Day 4

   Neighborhood reset

5. Day 5

   Évora day trip

   Train from Oriente or Roma-Areeiro (~1.5 hr). Roman temple, whitewashed walls, Chapel of Bones if everyone’s into it. Alentejo lunch — porco preto, wine for adults. Back to Lisbon same evening; same hotel key.

March spring break is the sweet spot. Sintra weekday if you add it — book Pena tickets early.

Portugal stays cheaper than France/Italy for a traditional-feeling week — pre-book the base; shoulder season helps a lot.
